Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 11, 2026
MeshFind is designed as a local-first application. The production versions distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play do not require an account and do not send your activity history, waypoints, friend list, or Meshtastic radio data to a MeshFind server.
Data stored on your device
MeshFind may store the following information locally on your phone so its features work:
- GPS positions and recorded activity routes received from your selected Meshtastic radio;
- saved waypoints, waypoint tags, downloaded offline map tiles, and exported GPX data;
- selected friend node identifiers, custom friend names, and recent mesh positions;
- remembered radio identifiers, radio configuration status, and app preferences.
You control this information through the app and your device. Uninstalling the app removes its locally stored app data, subject to your operating system’s backup behavior.
Bluetooth, location, camera, and sensors
MeshFind uses Bluetooth to communicate with a Meshtastic radio. It reads GPS and telemetry packets supplied by that radio. The app may use the phone’s compass for bearing guidance. Camera access is used only when you choose to scan a MeshFind Friend Card QR code. These permissions are used to provide the requested features.
Maps and external services
When you view or download maps, your device requests map tiles from the configured OpenStreetMap tile service. Like other internet requests, the tile provider may receive technical information such as your IP address and the requested tile coordinates. OpenStreetMap’s privacy information is available at osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.
When you choose to open Strava or export a GPX file, MeshFind creates the file on your device. Any information you later upload to Strava is governed by Strava’s privacy policy.
Diagnostics
The production Apple App Store and Google Play builds do not include MeshFind’s testing diagnostics or self-update service. The separately distributed Android testing build available through GitHub may send crash and connection diagnostics to Sentry to help diagnose pre-release problems. Testing diagnostics may include app state, device and operating-system information, radio connection stage, and error details. They are not intended to include recorded routes or message contents.
Data sharing and sale
MeshFind does not sell your personal information. The production app does not operate an advertising network and does not share your locally stored MeshFind data with the developer, except when you deliberately export or share information using another service.
Children
MeshFind is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect children’s personal information through a MeshFind account or server.
Changes
This policy may be updated when the app’s data practices change. The effective date above will be revised when a material update is published.
